I remember when we were going through the valley of unemployment, despite the dreary situation we found ourselves in, we pressed on. Beloved, the devil thinks he can ruin your life but he has already failed. When I look back now, I just LAUGH and I continue to laugh and shame the devil by sharing this testimony!
A few years ago, the day we had our first Persistent Faith Ministries empowerment conference titled “Enough is Enough” which was scheduled for the evening, on that very day (in the morning), we received foreclosure summons that because we couldn’t pay our mortgage, the bank had started proceedings against us to take back the house.
Imagine that – I was hosting a conference where I was the main speaker empowering people to possess their possession because enough is enough and then came the summons before leaving for the conference.
The enemy had plans to mess things up but he failed. That Holy Spirit inspired theme, “Enough is Enough” was indeed necessary for that season.
The Lord knew the plans of the enemy, gave us the theme in advance and we PRAYED at that conference because enough was truly enough!
Times were hard. The easy way out would have been to pack up, be deflated, allow ego to rule and say:
“No Lord, I can’t talk to people about trusting in you, walking in faith when I am going through my own issues. Please Lord, let me just get a job first and then I can share the testimony of how you came through.”
I had enough excuses to throw in the towel and quit especially because I had just recently had a baby. That would have been easy but things would have fallen apart if I had followed that route and walked outside God’s will.
The Holy Spirit kept reminding me of persistent faith. He said, “Your ministry is called persistent faith for a reason.”
To God be the glory, His grace was (and is) sufficient for us. God came through. We didn’t lose our house and His mercy endures forever.
You can read more about the Lord’s glorious deliverance in my books The Bilhah Moment: How to wait on God in Desperate Times and You Can Be Set Free: Purposefully Unleash Yourself and Reclaim Your Joy.
Some people think “No, you don’t wait on God, you keep going.”
Truth is, where are you going without instruction from God? It’s easy for people to make suggestions when they have never been through what you are going through (or went through).
Seriously, what do you do without running yourself ragged?
What do you do when creditors bombard your phone? What do you do when winter comes and you need to buy coats for your kids but can’t afford to because you are B-R-O-K-E? What do you do when you need to go to the doctor because of a chronic illness that is a thorn in your flesh, you have no health insurance and can’t pay out of pocket? What do you do when your baby needs diapers but you can’t afford to get any because you don’t have money?
What do you do when you are in a real estate fix – not knowing whether by the time you get back your stuff will be thrown out or house or apartment sealed off by a court order? What do you do when life is simply just HARD and there’s no explanation for what you are going through?
When you have done all you can, prayed and prayed, called things that aren’t as though they are AND given it all to God, what do you do? You wait and say “God, have mercy on me.” God will deliver you! The Scripture we stood on and chewed was Job 5:24
You will know that your home is safe. When you survey your possessions, nothing will be missing.
This message on persistent faith is a victorious one.
I want you to know that when you are going through the valley of the shadow of something you don’t understand and have never seen before, God is there.
As you wonder if you are ever going to come out of the wilderness, you must remember what God promised you and how He delivered you in the past. He did it before, He will do it again. He’s not a one-time Deliverer but the on-time Father.
The key to your victory is PERSISTENT FAITH!
