Ephphatha

Spiritual Growth, Victory · January 24, 2013

“He thrust His fingers into the man’s ears and spat and touched his tongue; and looking up to heaven, He sighed as He said, Ephphatha, which means, Be opened! And his ears were opened, his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak distinctly and as he should.”
– Mark 7:33-35 AMP

Bet you are wondering, how does this apply to me? I’m not deaf or mute, so what’s the big deal? Sometimes life happens and you are placed in situation where you have no choice but to be ‘deaf’ and ‘mute’ even to the detriment of those around you or to yourself.

Here are some ways one can be deaf or mute (it doesn’t have to be medically-related) and this situation has become a terrible stumbling block (and the stress may even affect your health):

  1. Perhaps you are in a situation where you cannot speak because you don’t want to lose your job. However, you cannot continue with what you see or what happens there, yet you are afraid to speak.
  2. Maybe you can’t talk because you are concerned that the feedback you will receive will be negative or even disastrous.
  3. Perhaps you or someone you know just won’t listen. This person has refused to hear. You have constantly told him or her that the current path will lead to destruction but he or she is not listening.
  4. Maybe you have relied on ungodly counsel and have been advised not to speak but you know what your God has told you. However, you don’t want to spite this person (or people) whom you trust.

Beloved, Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever. He is still in the business of saving people and making impossible situations possible. His name is powerful.

Therefore, in the name of Jesus, I command every tied tongue loosed right now. In the name of Jesus, I command closed ears opened right now.

Mark 7:35 says “And his ears were opened, his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak distinctly and as he should.”  Yes, he began to speak distinctly as he should.

Beloved, henceforth, you will begin to speak distinctly as you should in Jesus name and if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
