Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. – John 1:12-13 NIV
Some years ago, a lawyer had an argument with a cab driver about taking him to a destination. I overheard him say: “Listen, I say, take me to where I want to go. Do you know who I am? Huh? Do you know who I am?” The cab driver looked at him and said, “I don’t want to know who you are. All I know is that this is my cab and I’m not taking you anywhere.” The man said, “Hmm…you don’t know me, you don’t know who I am. I am Attorney….and I’m going to deal with you.”
I thought: “This guy is so bold! What insolence. Who cares about who you are? The cab belongs to the driver. He knows who he is. It’s his right not to take you anywhere.” As for the lawyer, although he was blatantly rude and foolishly arrogant, he knew who he was. He was proud of his position and he said it boldly. As for the cab driver, he knew his position too and he took a stand.
Who Am I in Christ?

- I am a citizen of heaven (Ephesians 2:19), not a foreigner or alien but a member of God’s household.
- I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me (1 John 5:18).
- I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb (Ephesians 1:7).
