God has given you an assignment but understand this: everyone cannot go with you. Everybody can’t accompany you on the trip. Every person cannot assist you with the project. Everyone cannot go with you to the battlefield.
The village cannot go with you (unless that’s what the Lord told you).
Sometimes due to fear, we look for or appoint people to accompany us on the assignment. We may even choose folks that we know are misaligned with our spirit and vision to assist us because we are afraid to do it solo or take the lead.
We have convinced ourselves that we are not qualified or good enough independently. We need the group or certain individuals to go with us.
Why you should not allow everybody to accompany you
1. People are not whom they seem to be. Can you really know what is in a man’s heart? Some people will pretend they are for you so that they can plan against you.
2. God is not with some people. What? Yes, because of their disobedience. Now imagine if those people now accompany you on your mission?
In 2 Chronicles 25:6-10, King Amaziah hired 100,000 fighting men from Israel for 100 talents of silver. However, the man of God told him not to let them march with him, “for the Lord is not with Israel. He will not help those people of Ephraim! If you let them go with your troops into battle, you will be defeated by the enemy no matter how well you fight.”
Amaziah let the men go. Remember, these were men of valor (fighting men) yet he had to let them go.
Some people look qualified, act qualified for the role but is the Lord with them? Think about it.
Have you ever been in a situation where you paid someone to do some work for you or to assist you but ever since you connected with that person, a strange entanglement became your norm and no matter how hard you tried, things just weren’t working?
3. Every person cannot go with you on the journey or work with you on the project. The disobedience of some folks has led to inexplicable delays or violent storms in the lives of others.
Remember Jonah? The ship threatened to break up with the sailors and Jonah in it because he was running from his Nineveh assignment.
What if you have already spent money for someone to go with you?
Sometimes you just have to let some things go even if you have already paid for them.
Amaziah asked the prophet about the money he had already paid and the man of God replied: “The Lord is able to give you much more than this!” So Amaziah discharged the hired troops and sent them back to Ephraim.” – 2 Chronicles 25:9-10
Some situations are not worth pursuing, especially if they will be threats to your destiny, detrimental to your cause or will give you spiritual headache!
