Ephphatha

Persistent Faith, Spiritual Growth, Victory · January 24, 2013

“There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him. After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”). At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.”

– Mark 7:32-35

Bet you are wondering, how does this Ephphatha apply to me?

Sometimes life happens and you are placed in situation where you have no choice but to be ‘deaf’ and ‘can hardly talk’ even to the detriment of those around you or to yourself.

  1. Perhaps you are in a situation where you cannot speak because you don’t want to lose your job. However, you cannot continue with what you see or what happens there, yet you are afraid to speak.
  2. Maybe you can’t talk because you are concerned that the feedback you will receive will be negative or even disastrous.
  3. Perhaps you or someone you know just won’t listen. This person has refused to hear. You have constantly told him or her that the current path will lead to destruction but he or she is not listening.
  4. Maybe you have relied on ungodly counsel and have been advised not to speak but you know what your God has told you. However, you don’t want to spite this person (or people) whom you trust.

Beloved, Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever. He is still in the business of saving people and making impossible situations possible. His name is powerful.

Therefore, in the name of Jesus, I command every tied tongue loosed right now. In the name of Jesus, I command closed ears opened right now.

NEXT POST:  Why Am I Not Healed?

Mark 7:35 says “And his ears were opened, his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak distinctly and as he should.”  Yes, he began to speak distinctly as he should.

Beloved, henceforth, you will begin to speak distinctly as you should in Jesus name and if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
