In the midst of a crisis, how do you keep your faith in desperate times? How do you stay calm? How do you continue to hold on and not become afraid when things around you seem to be crashing?
There is nothing new under the sun. The same God who delivered the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt can deliver us too in a pandemic.
God “will not drag his feet.” – Luke 18:8 MSG
That’s an assurance from the Word of God. If God can use a seemingly “impossible” deliverance method to save the children of Israel who had been in bondage in Egypt for many years (Exodus 14:29-31), he can certainly save his children today. Nothing has changed with God (Malachi 3:6).
He is indeed the Alpha and Omega (Revelations 22:13), the beginning and the end. He can use any means to shift destinies. He can heal and restore in anyway he chooses.
What Should You Do in a Desperate Situation?
Read, hold on to the Word of God and continue to pray. The word you hold on to is a life saver. I urge you to find a scripture verse that applies to your situation, that reminds us of God’s grace and mercy. For example, Psalm 123:2 says “our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his mercy.”
“Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. 2 Corinthians 4:16
How do you even read the Bible when you don’t know where to start?
One strategy is to open the Gospel of Mark. Once upon a time in a desperate situation, I really needed to know the word for myself. I needed the Lord’s divine intervention. I needed God to show me the scripture verse that would help me not be afraid and walk in authority. I opened Mark and continued reading. I highlighted and wrote down the verses that applied to my situation. I used His promises to pray.
One particular scripture has been with me to this day: “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Mark 5:36
It worked for me. It can work for you too. The word of God illuminates, it heals and brings solutions. God’s word is infallible.
Don’t give up.
The Lord says “when the Son of Man comes, will He find [this kind of persistent] faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8 AMP). Believe God that no matter what, all things will work together for our good. Let your faith be consistent and don’t falter.
Pray God’s Word back to him and remind him of his promises. We have his permission already to do so. Click here for a sample prayer using the Scriptures.
Listen to uplifting messages and worship songs. There were times when I didn’t feel like praying or doing anything because I was tired of my situation. I was encouraged by listening to uplifting messages, hearing the Word of God and using them to pray. Click here for How I Got My Groove Back When I Didn’t Feel Like Praying.
Again, God will not drag his feet. Do you believe? Worry will not solve the problem. “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good (encouraging) word makes it glad” (Proverbs 12:25 AMP). Today, will you believe God? Give Him all the praise because everything will be alright.

A word in season, it doesn’t matter what it looks or feels like, it does not matter what the situation or circumstance is saying, it is written ‘ who is he that speaks and it comes to pass when the lord God almighty have not commanded it’ Lamentations 3:37. Whatever it is, It’s only a matter of time it will fizzle out, only the word of the lord endures forever Psalm (119:89) Hallelujah!
